Recreation

The recreation program is designed to improve physical and interaction skills, improve self-esteem, and teach a wide range of recreational options available.

Youth entering St. Mary's generally have a very low self-image and have avoided recreational activities throughout their lives. Low skill levels and general lack of interest are common. St. Mary's aims to make recreation fun, and provides many recreational opportunities.

Recreation for Growth
and Lifelong Success

St. Mary’s recreation program emphasizes commitment, cooperation, and sportsmanship. The activities give youths experience in competition and teach them appropriate ways to spend leisure time.

Recreation is a valuable component of each youth’s developmental process at St. Mary’s. It improves self-confidence and gives them an appropriate outlet for their energies.

The more knowledge and success they experience in recreation, the more likely they are to use it in the future.
